THE EDGE OF GROWTH. I don't know about you but I often do my best thinking in the quiet hours of the morning or when I'm doing something mindless like washing dishes, having a shower, or am out on a walk.
One of those times I was thinking about how uncomfortable and hard the new things I was working on felt. It was a real time of struggle. And then I remembered that new things are supposed to feel hard. (rocket science, I know, but the simplest things are also the easiest to forget.)
Growing is not an easy process! Germinating plants have to break out of seeds, put down roots, push up through the soil, and that's just the beginning! Baby birds really struggle to peck and break their way out of their shells!
As for us, we have to learn new skills, change our habits, be willing to not be great at something, ask for help, make adjustments, not give up even when we can't tell if something is working, and then.. maybe then.. we'll start to move past that uncomfortable, uncertain, edge of growth.
It's true that the edge of growth feels like resistance, pressure, protection. It's also true that those feelings are like waving flags trying to get our attention. Not telling us to slam on the brakes. Not telling us to hold back or hide. Rather, showing us how and where to step in to our next level of becoming, belonging, and achieving.

Wishing you a week of growth past the edge of discomfort!
